Union AI runs open-weight language models inside the European Union: a chat for €13 a month, and an API per token. Here is why we built it, how we earn money and the rules we hold ourselves to.
Your prompts should not have to cross an ocean.
The best-known AI tools run on American clouds. Every contract, customer email or draft you paste in is processed there. For many European teams that is a risk they would rather not take, and often one they cannot explain to their own clients.
Union AI takes another route. We run open-weight models, whose weights anyone can download and run, on servers inside the European Union. You get a chat for everyday work and an OpenAI-compatible API for building, both priced in euros.
"European AI" is easy to say and hard to check. So we publish what you need to check it: the system prompt, the subprocessors and the energy figures.
Where European starts, and where it stops.

Is Union AI fully European?
No, and we say so. Every inference runs inside the European Union and prompts never go to the US or China. But the models are open-weight models from other labs, most of them trained outside Europe, and hosting, database and payments run at companies with a US parent. All of them are on our subprocessor list.
How does Union AI make money?
From two things: the chat plan at €13 a month, and the API, billed per token from prepaid credit in euros. There are no ads, we do not sell data and we do not train on what you send us.
Does Union AI train AI models on my data?
No. Your prompts, files and answers are not used to train any model, not ours and not anyone else's. That is part of how we make money: you pay for the service, so your data does not have to.
Why does Union AI publish its system prompt?
Because the behaviour it enforces is the behaviour we promise. If you can read the instruction the chat runs on, you can check our claims against it instead of taking our word for it.
